Kayla Thomas, a Maryland native who has been creating waves in radio, grew up with a passion for music, content creation, and making people laugh. After graduating from Liberty University in 2016, she received her first shot in the radio world at a local radio station in Roanoke, Virginia. Kayla went from being an intern to doing weekends, nights, then middays at WXLK-K92. Her loud voice and sassy personality quickly made her a recognizable voice throughout the Virginia Blue Ridge.
In 2018, Kayla got the opportunity to move to New Jersey and become an employee at Townsquare Media. Not only did she do the night show at WPST in Trenton, but she also landed her very own nationally syndicated show at just 24 years old. In just three years, Kayla helped grow 'Popcrush Nights' into a number one show with over 50 affiliates across the country.
Kayla continues to make a name for herself in the industry. In 2020, Kayla was named one of Ink Magazine's 30 Under 30 radio superstars. Also, interviewing some of the biggest names in music such as Adele, BTS, Justin Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and more, major publications such as People Magazine and Billboard have featured her interviews.
In Kayla's pursuit for excellence in her craft, she continues to focus on the community around her. Her strong passion for mentoring allows her to use her platform to inspire other women in the music industry. Above all else, Kayla loves entertaining and being her listeners' "best friend in the car." Her ultimate goal is to be a beacon of joy and make every person who hears her voice day just a little bit brighter.

Kayla Austin started her radio career in 2014 when she got a paid internship on the Number 1 Morning Show in South Jersey. She became cohost of the Mike and Diane Show, a South Jersey treasure, and quickly became a fan favorite. After doing the morning show for 3 years she was promoted and given an afternoon drive show called “Kickin It With Kayla” on South Jerseys number 1 Hip Hop Station, 99.3 the Buzz. She did the morning show and an afternoon drive on the number 1 station from 2014-2019.
In 2019, Kayla was laid off and in January of 2020,
just two months before the pandemic, she bought a one-way
ticket and moved to LA. Through perseverance she was able
to overcome the mental struggle of a pandemic and a new major city. In September 2020 Kayla was hired at iHeart as a producer on the #1 Talk Station in the country and the #1 most listened
to station on the iHeart Radio App. She has worked with
Dr. Wendy Walsh, Neil Saavedra, Tim Conway Jr, and many more. She has won a Golden Mic for her work alongside Steve Gregory on After the Verdict, a Derek Chauvin special.
Since moving she has discovered her deep love for Christ, nature, community, and self. She wants to share her growth and lighthearted outlook on life. Life can be so heavy and the day to day can be overwhelming, Kayla looks to be an escape from people’s problems. She looks to get lost in laughter with new friends as we get through life together.
